ScumFest http://www.scumfest.org South London DIY punk benefit festival Wed, 08 Jun 2011 21:41:50 +0000 en hourly 1 ScumFest 2011 http://www.scumfest.org/archives/406 http://www.scumfest.org/archives/406#comments Thu, 03 Mar 2011 19:54:11 +0000 The Scumfest Crue http://www.scumfest.org/?p=406 A huge thanx to all those who attended and supported ScumFest 2011. Cheers also to the following: The Deathdrop Crew for helping with accomodation and all other volunteers for their help throughout the weekend. DOOM for the pre ScumFest benefit that ensured all the bands had plenty to drink at the Fest, Carlos and Skinny for yet more amazing ScumFest artwork, Lauren for her time, patience and help with sound, Joe Siren for the lighting, the Cafe crew, Tina and Active Distribution for the BBQ, Active Rebellion for the badges, Stiv for being a drunk, Dom for sorting the projections, Mark for his Van (yet again), Chris, Mark and Rob (Agnosy) for lending their gear (yet again), the Teeny Tiny Tato company for yet another punk bingo extravaganza! Virginia Black for filming the weekend, Bison for recording the Sat night. Last but not least thanx  to all the bands, whom without we would not have had much in the way of a festival! Special thanks also to Sam and Jen for making the trip down and being present for the ENT set and to Chris Mortimer for donating the photos for the slideshow of Phil, sorry we didn’t get to use them all on the night!

As a collective we are pretty happy with how smoothly the fest went and we feel the weekend ran more or less hitch free.
Apologies for the delay in letting you all know exactly how much £ has been secured for the benefits. This was namely due to the fact we were waiting to see if we got our bond on the Bussey building back . We are still yet to find out details on this so have decided to split the money raised as follows:
£ 2,100

Split between the following:

£700 To the funeral costs of the late Phil Vane (vocalist of ENT)

£700 Te Whare Romata (the House of Tears, A cgrass roots organisation in Christchurch NZ recently devastated by earthquakes)

£700 Nomada Assosiation (Polish anti hate crimes group)

Any suggestions or feedback regarding the weekend is welcome, as are any photos or footage from the weekend.

Scumfest 2010: The aftermath http://www.scumfest.org/archives/251 http://www.scumfest.org/archives/251#comments Tue, 24 Aug 2010 16:20:23 +0000 The Scumfest Crue http://www.scumfest.org/?p=251

A huge thanx to all those who attended and supported ScumFest 2010. Cheers also to the following: The Bastard Sqaud Collective, The Deathdrop Crew and all other volunteers for their help throughout the weekend. Poisoning the waves & Russian Nick for their donations, The Reknaw crew (for sterling sound given their current situation), Joe siren for the lighting, the Cafe crew, the Teeny Tiny Tato company for yet another punk bingo extravaganza! Thanx also to the United & Strong Crew for their donation and for stewarding on the Sat night. Last but not least thanx  to all the bands, whom without we would not have had much in the way of a festival! Special thanks also to INSURRECTION for donating their travel costs to the benefits!
Overall we, as a collective are pretty happy with how smoothly the fest went and despite some trouble with the council on the Friday, the rest of the weekend ran more or less hitch free.
Apologies for the delay in letting you all know exactly how much £ has been secured for the benefits. This was namely due to the fact we were waiting to see if we got our bond on the Bussey building back . Unfortunately as there was some damage done this will not be the case (graffiti, broken window and door) Despite the damage we/you still raised the following:

£ 2,000

Split between the following:

L.G.B.T.I (£666)

56@ InfoShop (£666)

Gender L’viv (£666)

We also made a £350 an additional donation to Reknaw towards a new sound system as there one was destroyed in an arson attack just prior to ScumFest.

Any suggestions or feedback regarding the weekend is welcome, as are any photos or footage from the weekend.

What Next?

Plans are afoot for ScumWINTERfest  this December so stay tuned for further announcements.

1struggle1fight,
THE SFC 2010

PS. To all bands/drivers contacting us RE upcoming tours of the UK please contact The Deathdrop (in our top friends on myspace) or other UK promoters RE getting gigs in London. ScumFest is an annual event and we do not book bands outside of ScumFest and Winterfest. Cheers

Accommodation http://www.scumfest.org/archives/228 http://www.scumfest.org/archives/228#comments Wed, 19 May 2010 06:50:04 +0000 The Scumfest Crue http://www.scumfest.org/?p=228 Please be advised that ScumFest cannot guarantee accommodation to those travelling from out of town. We will do our best to help those of you in this situation and there is a chance there will be a number of squats that can assist you. However such is the nature of squatting in London this is not something we would want to guarantee until nearer the time of the festival.

We would advise those deeply concerned with guaranteed accommodation to check out hostels/back packers  in the area (some links provided below). Otherwise we suggest you take your chances, make some new friends who may be able to put you up for the night and see where you end up. The ScumFest Info point will be located on the second floor of the Bussey building (where the fest will be held Fri/Sat) and as aforementioned we will d o our best to help.

The ScumFest Crew wish Radek our kindest regards and a quick and full recovery. At this stage it is unlikely that another band will be replacing Guided Cradle’s slot, but we will keep you all informed of any further updates. More Info about the fest will be posted later this week so watch this space.

The SFC 2010

“We are very sorry to say announce that we have had to cancel playing the scum fest 28.5. and gig in Prague 26.5.2010. Our drummer Radek, “Ctyrlist”, has just had an operation to remove a tumour that was found last week and will not be able to do anything physicaly for about 2 months. His situation is quite serious and we are all hoping the best for him and his family. We were all looking forward to the scum fest being our first gig in Britain but it will unfortunatly have to wait. We apologize to the scum fest crew that have put a lot of time and work into us getting there, and to all of you who were looking forward to seeing us over there.
Me and Austin will be there so see you all soon.
Ethan+ Guided Cradle”
